Filters

/filter preset: applies one effect to everything playing. Choosing a new one replaces the old one, so they never stack.

Orpheus keeps the boosts fairly gentle so tracks that are already loud don't distort. /filter preset: Off removes the effect.

When effects switch off or wait

An effect takes a lot more work to play than plain music, so Orpheus follows a few rules to keep playback smooth for every server on the same audio server:

• The effect ends with the queue. When the queue finishes, Orpheus switches it off and says so. Stopping the music switches it off too. If a station or autoplay carries on, the effect stays.
• Orpheus switches an effect off after 3 hours of continuous use and says so in the channel. /filter turns it back on. Swapping to a different preset doesn't restart the 3 hours.
• When the audio server is busy, a new effect waits. The same happens when a lot of other servers already use effects there. Orpheus tells you why and the music keeps playing as normal. Effects that are already on keep going, and turning one off or swapping it for another always works.
• If the audio server gets very busy, Orpheus switches off the effects that have been on longest, a few each minute, so the music doesn't stutter for everyone. It posts a message in the channel when it does.

Volume

/volume level: 80 sets the volume from 0 to 200 for what's playing now. 100 is the track's original level.

Add remember: True to make that the server's default volume, which Orpheus uses every time it starts playing on the server. Saving a default needs Manage Server.

You can also set the default with the slider on the dashboard's Settings page.

Skipping sponsor reads and chatter

Orpheus uses SponsorBlock to skip parts of YouTube videos that aren't the song. It skips them without posting a message in the channel.

/skipsegments mode: has three settings:

• Default skips sponsor reads, self-promotion, "like and subscribe" reminders and non-music sections, such as talking at the start or end of a music video. This is on for every server unless someone changes it.
• Strict skips everything in Default, plus intros, outros and recaps. This can cut into songs, because plenty of uploads mark a song's own intro or outro.
• Off plays videos in full.

Run /skipsegments with no mode to see what's being skipped. A change applies to what's playing straight away. The dashboard's Settings page has a "Segments to skip" box too, and leaving it empty means skip nothing.

Lyrics

/lyrics shows the lyrics for the current track in a message only you can see. You need to be in the voice channel.

Lyrics come from Spotify's lyrics service. Instrumentals, live sets and less well-known tracks often have none, and Orpheus says so. Orpheus cuts very long lyrics to fit in one Discord message.

On the dashboard, the Lyrics tab shows the words for what's playing, and follows along line by line when the lyrics have timings. There's more on lyrics in Discord.

Where the player card goes

When you start music with a command, the card goes in the channel where you ran it.

When music is started from the dashboard there's no command channel, so Orpheus uses the server's player channel:

• /channel channel: #music sets it. Orpheus checks it can post there first.
• /channel clear: True goes back to letting Orpheus pick.
• /channel on its own tells you the current setting, or which channel it would pick.

Every server setting

Changing settings needs Manage Server, on the dashboard and, by default, in Discord. Each setting has more detail elsewhere:

• 24/7: 24/7, empty channels and restarts
• Autoplay: Autoplay and radio
• DJ role: Controls and permissions
