Terms of use

By adding Orpheus to a Discord server, or by using its commands, you agree to what follows. It is deliberately short, and it is meant to be read.

Who you are agreeing with

Orpheus is operated by 7th Circle, established in Ireland. “We” and “us” below mean 7th Circle; “you” means the person using the bot, and where you added it to a server, the person responsible for it there. Contact: support@orpheusbot.app.

The service

Orpheus is a Discord bot that plays audio in voice channels. It is provided free of charge. There is no paid tier, no feature is withheld pending payment, and any donation is a gift rather than a purchase — it buys nothing, entitles you to nothing, and is not refundable for that reason.

Who may use it

You must meet Discord’s own minimum age — 13, or higher where your country requires it — and be permitted to use Discord under its terms. If you are adding the bot on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to agree to this on its behalf.

What is expected of you

• Follow Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
• Do not use Orpheus to play content you have no right to play, or to infringe anyone’s copyright.
• Do not attempt to disrupt the service: no automated abuse of commands, no attempts to overload, probe or interfere with the infrastructure it runs on, and no reselling access to it.
• You are responsible for how Orpheus is used in a server you administer, including who you give control of playback to.

Content, and who owns it

Orpheus does not host, store, cache or distribute music. It locates audio on third-party services at your request and relays it into your voice channel, in the same way a browser plays a page you navigate to. The content belongs to those services and their rights holders, and your use of it is subject to their terms as well as these.

The Orpheus name, logo and this website belong to 7th Circle.

Copyright complaints

If you believe something Orpheus has been used to play infringes your rights, email support@orpheusbot.app with enough detail to identify the work and where it occurred. Because we host nothing, the effective remedy is usually with the service actually hosting the audio — but we will act on anything within our control, including removing the bot from a server being used to infringe.

Availability

The service is provided as it is and as it happens to be available, with no guarantee of uptime and no promise that a given track, source or feature will keep working — upstream services change, and sometimes they break. We may modify, suspend or discontinue it at any time. Nothing here is a service level agreement.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, 7th Circle is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for interrupted playback, lost queues or lost playlists, arising from your use of Orpheus. It is a free music bot; please do not depend on it for anything that matters more than a music bot should.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local law gives you and nothing here takes those away.

Ending it

You can stop at any time by removing Orpheus from your server. We may withdraw access from a server or a user that abuses the service or breaks these terms, and where the abuse is deliberate we will generally do so without warning.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the European Union, you may also bring proceedings in your own country and you keep the protection of its mandatory consumer law.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use Orpheus after that date means the current version applies; if you do not accept a change, remove the bot.
