Finding the right song
Every result is checked before it's queued
YouTube returns a lot of near misses: lyric videos, sped-up edits, hour-long loops and covers. When Orpheus knows which release you mean, it checks each result against that release and plays the best one that passes.
It knows when you pick one of the suggestions /play shows once you've typed three characters. Those come from the Deezer catalogue with the title, artist and length, which makes picking one the most precise way to ask. It also knows when the top catalogue answer covers every word you typed and most of those words are the title.
01Title
It has to be the same song title. Orpheus turns down a longer title that only contains yours, like a medley.02Artist
The artist has to appear in the uploader's name or in the title. A lyric channel's copy is fine when its length matches the release.03Length
Within 20 seconds, or 20%, of the release. This keeps an hour-long loop from standing in for a three-minute song.04Versions you didn't ask for
Orpheus skips remixes, sped-up edits, live recordings, loops and the rest of the list below unless your request has the word in it.05Live streams
Orpheus turns these down when it expects a song with a fixed length.Uploads from the artist's own channel get a small edge over other copies. If nothing passes, Orpheus searches once more with the song's proper title and artist.
Type the word and you get that version
Orpheus skips these or ranks them lower unless your request includes them. “Live” only counts when it describes a recording, like “(Live)” or “Live at Wembley”, so a song called Live Forever is fine.

If YouTube has nothing that fits your words, Orpheus checks SoundCloud as well and uses whichever answer fits better, which is how tracks that only live on SoundCloud still turn up. And when a track won't play, it looks for the same song on SoundCloud and then Bandcamp, with the same checks, before moving on.

Paste a link from any of these into /play. Radio means a direct link to a stream or an audio file.
A playlist or album link queues up to 200 tracks. If it has more, the reply says so and points you at /playlist import, which can take the rest.

Spotify links
A Spotify link finds the same recording
Spotify only tells Orpheus what a track is, so Orpheus has to find a copy it can play and check that it's the same recording.
01It looks up the recording's code
Released recordings usually carry an ISRC, an ID code for that exact recording. Orpheus searches YouTube for it first, and treats a hit as the recording.02Then it searches by name
Title and artist on YouTube, then SoundCloud, then the title alone on YouTube. The top five results each time go through the same checks as/play.03It tells you when it isn't sure
If nothing passes, Orpheus queues nothing and says it found the track but not a copy it's confident is the same recording. Searching by name sometimes finds one it can check.
Filters and volume
Change how it sounds, for everyone listening
/filter preset: puts one effect on everything playing. Picking another replaces it, so they never stack. Orpheus keeps the boosts gentle so loud tracks don't distort.

/volume level: 80 sets the volume for what's playing, anywhere from 0 to 200. 100 is the track's own level.
Add remember: True to make it the server's default. Saving a default needs Manage Server, and there's a slider for it on the dashboard too.
Orpheus also skips sponsor reads and the talking at the start or end of music videos on YouTube, using SponsorBlock. /skipsegments makes that stricter or turns it off.
Lyrics
The words, in time with the song
/lyrics shows the words for what's playing, in a message only you can see. You need to be in the voice channel.
On the dashboard, the Lyrics tab scrolls along line by line when the lyrics have timings. Untick Follow along if you want to read ahead.
Lyrics come from Spotify's lyrics service. Instrumentals, live sets and less well-known tracks often don't have any, and Orpheus tells you when that happens.
