Why I built Orpheus
Orpheus is a Discord music bot I built because I wanted something simple: add it to your server, join a voice channel, and play music without having to think about subscriptions or limitations.
Type /play with a song name or link, and Orpheus plays it for everyone in the voice channel.
Why it’s free
I’ve used a lot of music bots on Discord, and many of the features I found most useful were locked behind paid plans, including things like 24/7 playback, filters and lyrics.
Listening to music with your friends shouldn’t need a subscription, so I built Orpheus with everything available for free. There’s no paid plan, no Premium tier and nothing to upgrade to.
7th Circle and running Orpheus
Orpheus started as a personal project. I’m also a developer on the 7th Circle staff, and 7th Circle supports Orpheus and helps it reach more Discord servers. 7th Circle is also the operator named in the terms and privacy policy.
Running Orpheus costs money, mostly for the servers and infrastructure it uses to provide music. Donations through Ko-fi help cover those costs.
I don’t expect anything from anyone who uses Orpheus. If you choose to support the project, it’s appreciated, but it’s never required and never unlocks anything.
Getting help
If something isn’t working, you can ask in the Orpheus support channel on the Orpheus Discord or email support@orpheusbot.app. The support page covers common problems and fixes, while the status page shows whether Orpheus is currently online and working.
Add Orpheus to your server
It asks for seven permissions, and Administrator isn't one of them. You can remove it from your server at any time.
