Server setup

Set Orpheus up for your server with /admin setup or the dashboard's Controls page, from the DJ role and vote-skip to 24/7, announcements and the weekly chart.

Where to change settings

Everything here needs Manage Server. Use /admin setup in Discord or the dashboard's Controls page.

  • /admin setup in Discord shows the main settings in one private panel: the player channel, the DJ role, and switches for 24/7, autoplay, the weekly chart, the song name under the voice channel and vote-skip. It also lists any permissions Orpheus is missing. Changes save as you make them.
  • The Controls page on the dashboard has every setting, in the groups below.

The individual commands, such as /admin stay and /admin, need Manage Server by default too. To open one to other roles, go to Server Settings, then Integrations, then Orpheus.

Channels and access

  • Channel restrictions, on the Controls page, choose the text channels where commands work and the voice channels Orpheus may join. Anywhere else, Orpheus replies with where to go. By default every channel works.
  • DJ role, DJ-only mode and vote to skip decide who can skip, stop and change the queue. Who can control playback explains each one.

Playback

  • Default volume is where the volume starts each time Orpheus joins. It's 100 unless you change it on the Controls page or with /volume remember: True.
  • Keep going when the queue ends is autoplay. It's off by default.
  • Skip the parts that are not music is /admin segments. Some uploads wrap a song in a sponsor read or a plea to like and subscribe. mode: Default skips sponsor reads, self-promotion, like-and-subscribe pleas and sections that are not music. mode: Strict also skips intros, outros and recaps, which can clip a song that has an intro or outro of its own. mode: Off plays everything. A server that has never chosen skips nothing. Run /admin segments without a mode to see the current setting. A change applies to what's playing right away, and it only affects songs that come from video uploads.
  • Stay in the channel is 24/7 mode. See 24/7 and empty channels.

Announcements and status

  • Player channel is where the player card goes when someone starts music from the dashboard. A command still puts the card where it was run. Set it with /admin channel channel: #music.
  • Announce each new song posts a short line in an announcement channel you choose each time a song starts. Nothing extra is posted until you choose a channel.
  • Song name under the voice channel shows what's playing as the voice channel's status. It's on by default and needs the Set Voice Channel Status permission.
  • Weekly chart posts last week's most-played songs in the player channel every Monday from 17:00 UTC, or once the music stops. Turn it on with /server charts weekly: True.

Orpheus may also post about something new, at most once every 14 days and never while music is playing. /admin announcements off stops these, and /admin announcements status says whether they're on.

24/7 and empty channels

With 24/7 off, which is the default, Orpheus leaves a minute after the last person does. It keeps what was playing and queued for 24 hours. The next time someone uses /play in the server, Orpheus offers a Bring them back button. Press it while you're in the voice channel with Orpheus.

With 24/7 on, Orpheus stays. It pauses a minute after the channel empties and carries on as soon as someone joins. If a person paused it before everyone left, it stays paused. Turn it on with /admin stay enabled: True, in /admin setup, or with Stay in the channel on the Controls page.

Charts

/server charts shows your server's most-played songs last week, Monday to Sunday in UTC. /server charts week: This week so far shows the week under way.

Every server gets the top 10. People with Ghost Mode on are never named.

Rewind

/server rewind shows this server's Rewind card: songs played, hours of music and the top artist, for this month so far or an earlier stretch you pick with when:. On the 1st of each month Orpheus also posts last month's card, if enough was played and announcements are on. People with Ghost Mode on are never named.

Walk-ins

A walk-in is a short clip that plays when someone joins the voice channel. /admin walkin sets them up: server: turns the server's own clip on or off, and song: and start: choose it.
