Queue and controls
Change the queue, skip or vote to skip, see who can control playback, and adjust the volume, filters and lyrics.
The queue
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/queue view |
Shows what's coming up, 10 songs a page, with a menu that moves a song to the front. Only you see it. |
/queue remove position: 4 |
Takes song 4 out. The numbers match /queue view. |
/queue move from: 6 to: 1 |
Moves song 6 so it plays next. |
/queue shuffle |
Shuffles what's coming up. |
/queue loop mode: |
Repeats nothing, this song or the whole queue. |
/queue clear |
Empties what's coming up and lets the current song finish. It ends a radio station too. |
/seek to: 1:30 |
Jumps within the song. It takes 1:30, 90, 2m15s, or +30 and -10 from where you are. |
/skip |
Skips the song. At the end of the queue, autoplay or radio carry on if they're on. |
/stop |
Stops the music, clears the queue, ends any station and leaves. |
Who can control playback
To use the player card, the dashboard's controls or any command that changes what's playing, you need to be in the voice channel with Orpheus. To add music you need to be in a voice channel. If Orpheus is idle, it joins yours.
With no DJ role set, anyone in the channel can use every control.
| How the server is set up | Who can skip | Who can stop, pause and change the queue |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing set (the default) | Anyone in the channel | Anyone in the channel |
| A DJ role | DJs, Manage Server, anyone alone with Orpheus, and whoever queued the song | DJs, Manage Server, and anyone alone with Orpheus |
| Vote-skip on | Manage Server, DJs, anyone alone with Orpheus and whoever queued the song skip straight away; everyone else votes | Anyone in the channel, unless a DJ role is set |
| DJ-only mode | The DJ role and Manage Server only | The DJ role and Manage Server only |
The DJ role
Once a server sets a DJ role, only these people can skip, stop, pause, change the queue, or change the volume, filters and loop while others are listening:
- anyone with the DJ role,
- anyone with Manage Server,
- anyone alone in the channel with Orpheus,
- whoever queued the song that's playing, to skip it but not to stop everyone's music.
Everyone can still add music, look at the queue, see the lyrics, and like or save songs.
Set the role with /admin dj role: @DJ, in /admin setup, or on the dashboard's Controls page. /admin dj off: True removes it.
DJ-only mode, on the Controls page, goes further: only the DJ role and Manage Server can control anything, even alone or for your own song, and vote-skip turns off.
Vote to skip
Vote-skip is off by default. Someone with Manage Server turns it on in /admin setup or on the dashboard's Controls page, and it stays off while DJ-only mode is on. Once it's on, /skip, the Skip button and the dashboard's Skip each count as a vote, and the song skips once enough of the channel agrees. The server chooses how many listeners must agree. Bots and deafened members don't count, and the votes reset when a new song starts.
The DJ role, Manage Server, someone alone with Orpheus and whoever queued the song all skip without a vote. With a DJ role set, everyone else votes instead of being refused.
Volume
/volume level: 80 sets the volume from 0 to 200. 100 is the level the song was recorded at. Add remember: True to make it the server's default, which needs Manage Server.
Filters
/filter preset: puts one effect on everything that plays. A new one replaces the old.
| Preset | What it does |
|---|---|
| Bass boost | Lifts the low end |
| Nightcore | Faster and higher |
| Vaporwave | Slower and lower, with a slight wobble |
| 8D | Moves the sound around your head. Best with headphones |
| Karaoke | Tries to remove the vocals |
| Treble | Lifts the high end |
| Soft | Takes the edge off the highs |
| Off | No effect |
A filter switches off when the queue ends, when the music stops, and after 3 hours on. Turning a filter off always works.
Lyrics
/lyrics shows the words for the song that's playing, in a message only you see. Instrumentals, live sets and lesser-known songs often have none. On the dashboard, the Lyrics tab follows along line by line when the lyrics have timings.
